Huffman, Texas, was first settled in 1839 by David Huffman. By 1888, it had a post office and two blacksmith shops. The Beaumont, Sour Lake, and Western Railway arrived in the early 1900s, enhancing its development. In 1905, Huffman had two schools, and by 1914, it reported a population of 250. The area, covering fifty-eight square miles, is known for its church, cemetery, and schools, including the Huffman School. By 2000, Huffman's population grew to 250 with 192 businesses.
